VoicePrint case study

Problem

A major multinational software company recognised the business need for a strong coaching capability in its managers and wanted to create a consistent managerial experience for its employees. Having promoted their best technical and sales people, the company recognised they could do more to support them, with a focus on investing in coaching as a core discipline of the management role for the benefit of the company and the individual.

Intervention

Over a three-month period, a new approach to coaching and management was introduced and embedded.

All managers used VoicePrint. First, the VoicePrint self perception questionnaire, to increase self awareness of the individual tendencies that influence how they communicate in the workplace. And then, the VoicePrint 360 profile, which incorporates feedback from their managers, team members and peers, to develop a deeper and more objective understanding of how the way they talk is heard and interpreted by those around them.

Two days of experiential learning provided the opportunity to concentrate on practical coaching and mentoring skills, brought to life in one-to-one coaching sessions. A one-day follow up was later used to check in and reinforce the learning.

Impact

The company reports seeing an “instant change in beliefs and behaviours”, with managers now leading their teams more effectively. Individual participants report improvements in motivation, productivity, delegation and empowerment.

“I felt like I had super powers. I have increased my presence in meetings, increased engagement with my team and become more structured as a manager. The transformation in just a couple of months has been seismic.” Programme participant

Takeaway

The VoicePrint tools are an excellent way in to understanding and adjusting communication patterns at all levels – individual, relationship, team, and organisation.
